The Best of the Dresses: Academy Awards 2014
03/03/2014 By southbeachThe biggest night of the year for red carpet fashion took place last night: the Oscars!
We’ve been poring over the dresses and made our selection of winners from the evening.
Even though Jennifer Lawrence took a tumble on the red carpet (after falling over at the awards last year too, doh!), she still managed to look effortlessly elegant- we love this striking red Dior gown.
Anne Hathaway also looked the picture of elegance in a black fitted Gucci dress with a hint of shimmer thanks to the silver embellishment on the top half.
Both Jennifer and Anne were sporting shorter hair-do’s at the event; we approve!
Emma Watson usually causes a stir on the red carpet with her fashion forward choices, though this Vera Wang number is a more demure look for the young star. We like its simplicity and if there was ever a call for more sophisticated style, it’s surely the Oscars.
Kate Hudson wowed in this silky plunging Versace gown- we’re sure she’ll make it on to all the best-dressed lists!
Lupita Nyong'o was very much in the limelight at the event and she held it superbly in this dreamy sky blue Prada gown with a daring neckline.
Cate Blanchett opted for a pretty nude embellished Armani Privé dress.
Both Lupita and Cate won Oscar’s on the evening- well done ladies!

Anna Kendrick stayed ahead of the fashion pack in a black J. Mendel gown from the designer’s Autumn/Winter’14 collection.
Meanwhile Naomi Watts kept it simple in a spring-perfect dress from Calvin Klein.
